Round Town: trains and food

(WSLS 10) – The Virginia Museum of Transportation holds Train Lovers’ Day on Saturday. Three steam engines will be on display, plus you can take a tour in the cab of the Class A 1218. Train Lovers’ Day runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for kids. Train rides are $3.

The Taubman Museum of Art presents Tastings at the Taubman. Explore bourbon pairings with pork dishes created by local chefs. Tickets are $55 in advance and $65 the day of the event. It’s Friday night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Cabin Fever Series presents its first concert of the year at The Tams Sock Hop Party. Put on your favorite attire from the 50s and enjoy the sock hop style party. Tickets start at $10. The event begins Friday night at 6 p.m. at the Vinton War Memorial.

Enjoy great music this weekend at the Harvester Performance Center in Rocky Mount. Edwin McCain plays Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $36.50. On Sunday night, The Wood Brothers take to the stage at 8 p.m. Tickets for the show are $29.

Blacksburg is home to the 3rd annual Soul Food Sampling on Saturday. You will learn about the history and traditions of soul food, as well as get to try some. Tastings are at noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $20.
