Teens, adults go to court in Rockbridge Sex Offender Luring Case

LEXINGTON (WSLS 10) - Two teens who investigators say lured a convicted sex offender to a Rockbridge County home and videotaped beating him faced a judge Tuesday.

Chief Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Jared Moon prosecuted the boys. Moon will not disclose the outcome of their cases because they are juveniles.

George Mason, the father of one of the teens, pleaded guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The prosecutor says Mason was aware of what was going on before the sex offender, Elijah Bobbitt, got to the house but did nothing to stop it.

Mason got a 60-day jail sentence, with all but four days suspended. He'll have to serve the entire sentence if he gets in any trouble in the next two years. Mason must also perform 120 hours community service.

Bobbitt waived a preliminary hearing on two felony counts of computer solicitation of a minor. His case will go before the grand jury on May 1.
