No one injured in Roanoke apartment fire

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Roanoke fire crews responded to an apartment fire in the city on Wednesday night.

Two apartments were affected and eight people were displaced, according to the Roanoke Fire-EMS Department.

The department says that smoke alarms could be heard.

The call for the fire in the 700 block of Highland Avenue was received a little after 9 p.m., according the department.

By 9:50 p.m., the department reported that the fire was under control and no injuries were reported.

The cause is still under investigation.

The Red Cross is assisting five people.
