Roanoke police identify woman who died after overnight shooting

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - A 28-year-old woman died after an overnight shooting in Roanoke.

On February 5, at 11:48 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block of 29th Street NW, Shenandoah Village, to investigate a report of a disorder. While responding, officers received updated information saying that there was a gunshot wound.

Officers say they found the victim, later identified as Asia Denay Wade, of Roanoke, lying unconscious, face down in the doorway of an apartment. She was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 12:42 a.m. on Monday.

This is the second homicide/ shooting death of the year in the city of Roanoke.

Police seized a black LG phone from the last person to have contact with Wade, according to a search warrant. The phone made a call from the scene to 911 and other people.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
