Roanoke police searching for second man after fatal Tuesday night shooting

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Roanoke police say the man who was shot on Tuesday night has died.

On Wednesday at 7:45 a.m., police arrested 19-year-old Michael Antonio David Jr., of Roanoke, with second-degree murder.

Police are searching for 19-year-old Markeith O'Shea Bryson Jr., of Roanoke, who is wanted for second-degree murder in connection to the shooting. Police are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to call 540-344-8500.

The shooting happened at about 6:15 p.m. in the 1800 block of Staunton Avenue Northwest.

Police identified the victim as Michael Lee Nance, 28, of Roanoke.

The first officer on scene began rendering first aid to Nance until paramedics arrived.

Roanoke police say Nance was speaking to officers at the scene; however, he died at the hospital at 7:37 p.m.

Police have determined that Nance was in his vehicle when he was shot and that drug activity was involved in the shooting.

David was taken to the Roanoke City Jail and the investigation is ongoing.
