Craig County crash, power outages

CRAIG COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Emergency crews are on the scene of a crash in Craig County. Dispatchers say the accident is outside of New Castle on Route 311 southbound and one lane of traffic is open. A pickup truck ran off the road, hitting some trees but no injuries were reported.

The Craig County Sheriff's Office says it happened about 4:50 a.m. and they don't' believe alcohol or drugs were a factor. The driver will be charged with reckless driving, failure to maintain proper control.

Around 7 a.m. Appalachian Power reported about 400 customers without power in Craig County with an estimated restoration time of 10 a.m. As of 12:15 p.m. about 70 customers were without power with an estimated restoration time of 6 p.m.

The sheriff's office says APCo is working to fix "extensive damage".
