Southside dry cleaning continuing tradition of helping keep people warm

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - A Southside dry cleaning company is continuing its tradition of helping people stay warm in the winter.

Martinizing Dry Cleaning, at 865 Piney Forest Drive in Danville, is collecting coats through Christmas.

When people drop off coats, the company cleans them, then the Salvation Army or Social Services will take them and distribute them.

Mark Mills, the owner of the Danville location, estimates that so far, about 100 coats have been collected.

He said he is happy to be able to carry on the tradition his mother started about 30 years ago.

"We love doing it and it's important to give back to the community," Mills emphasized. "Danville's been our home since before I was born, so it's important to give back to try to take care of the community and help the people that help you."

You can also drop off other items, such as gloves and scarves.
