Progress on Danville’s latest mural continues despite cold

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) – The bitter cold isn’t slowing progress on Danville’s latest mural.

Friday, artist Wes Hardin was sketching out more of the design.

He says he’s about halfway done so far.

The mural will pay tribute to the history of the tobacco industry in the city.

This is the city’s third mural. Hardin says if he waited until the spring to work on the mural, it could be delayed because the rain during the spring would make painting difficult.

He says the biggest challenge Friday was keeping his hands warm.

“It’s the fingers that are tough because I think they get numb and brushes fall and such like that. But, it’s just a question of trying to keep your dexterity,” Hardin said cheerfully.

He hoped to have the sketch complete by the end of the year.
