BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - A Virginia Tech student charged with accessory to the murder of a 13-year-old girl said her incriminating statements should not be used during her upcoming trial.

Natalie Keepers filed a motion to have statements she made to police about her involvement in Nicole Lovell's death thrown out, because she claimed her constitutional rights were violated.

The motion stated that police did not read Keepers her Miranda rights until after almost a day of questioning at the police station. It went on to claim that police did not tell Keepers she could speak with an attorney until many of her statements had already been made to investigators.

Keepers' defense team is also asking both the Blacksburg Police Department and the FBI to provide information on their investigators' experience and training in interrogation. Prosecutors filed a response in circuit court, stating that neither department is required by law to provide that information.

Keepers is scheduled to have four days of motions hearings starting January 17th.
