Woman hit by truck in Floyd dies from injuries

FLOYD (WSLS 10) - A 66-year-old Montgomery County woman died on Wednesday, December 14, after being hit by a truck in Floyd on December 9, according to state police.

State police are investigating the single-vehicle fatal crash where Monty Leitch, 66, was hit by a truck at 11:50 am at the intersection of Route 8 and Route 221 in Floyd County.

A 1996 Chevrolet K-1500 traveling west on Route 8 was making a left turn onto Route 221 and hit Leitch, which was traveling west crossing Route 221.

Chance Bihary, 19, of Willis, was driving the Chevy truck and was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.

Leitch, of Pilot, Va., was transported by helicopter to Roanoke Memorial Hospital and died December 14, 2016 from the injuries received in the crash.

Charges in the crash are pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
