(WSLS 10) - The simple assault case against Buena Vista City Public Schools Superintendent Dr. John Keeler returns to court today. Court records show that a complaint was filed by the school system's transportation manager, John Butler. It includes accusations of verbal abuse during a Transportation Department meeting in August. School leaders say that the two were placed on paid administrative leave earlier this year.

The Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance holds an economic summit today. Those attending will hear the State of the Commonwealth report. Participants will also give their input on policy goals for the Virginia Chamber of Commerce's long-term economic development plan.

You can join the Danville Family YMCA starting today and help a good cause. The $50 fee to join the Y is waived between now and the end of the year if you bring in a case of water. The donations will go God's Pit Crew. Last year, 313 cases or 7,500 bottles of water were donated.

The current class of recruits in the Roanoke Valley Regional Fire and EMS Academy graduate today. Twenty-three people have spent the last 18 weeks in training, 16 from Roanoke, five from Roanoke County and two from Salem.
