DCC using puppies, kittens to help students de-stress during finals

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) – Danville Community College is taking a unique approach to helping relieve the stress of finals week for students.

On Thursday, the college offered students a “cuddle break.”

Puppies and kittens from the Danville Area Humane Society were at the student center Thursday morning for students to cuddle and play with.

Some of the pets are up for adoption. Students said the cuddle break is a welcome relief.

“I definitely feel a lot less stressed about a lot of things. Just playing with cats and puppies,” said Teena Karlberg. “They’re definitely very destressing animals.”

“I have one more [final] this afternoon. I wasn’t going to come, but then I figured I might as well come love on these animals so they can love on me so I can be less stressed about it,” said Alexa Barley, holding a puppy.

There’s no word if the college plans to do this again next semester.
