TSA shows off weapons confiscated by agents at Roanoke airport

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - On Wednesday, the Transportation Security Administration showcased weapons its agents have caught at the checkpoint at the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport.

TSA representatives said different types of knives are among the most commonly seized items. Brass knuckles and tools are often confiscated as well.

The biggest concern is explosive items.

TSA representatives said that if you have a prohibited item with you in your carry-on bag, you do have options.

"You can run it back to your car, you can hand it off to a non-traveling companion. Again, you have the option to put it in your check bag and your last resort is to voluntarily surrender it to TSA," said Lisa Farbstein, a TSA spokeswoman.

If you're unsure about whether an item is allowed on a plane, the My TSA app, available on both Apple and Android devices, can help you figure that out.
