FOREST (WSLS 10) - Bedford County supervisors have approved a new senior living facility in Forest.
Runk & Pratt plans to break ground on a two-story, 80,000-square-foot life care community next August in Ivy Hill.
The idea is to make seniors feel at home within the existing neighborhood, to keep them from feeling isolated.
"It's hard for seniors to give up their home and their neighbors and everybody that they've known," said Vickie Runk. "So to come into a community like Ivy Hill and for them to be able to keep a lot of that is really important to us as a developer."
Both the seniors and neighborhood homeowners will have access to the existing Ivy Hill amenities, which include a golf course, a pool, and a pickleball court.
