News Channel 11 Staff and Karissa Winstead – JOHNSON COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – The Johnson County Sheriff's Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed a child is facing charges in connection to the death of an 84-year-old woman a little more than a year ago.

According to Sheriff Mike Reece, the sheriff's office began investigating a report of a missing person on December 6, 2015. That same day, 84-year-old Teruko Shaw was found dead, not far from her home.

Investigators determined a juvenile, who was 11 years old at the time, is a suspect in the case.

The child has been charged with felony murder, especially aggravated burglary and theft of property.

Authorities said the juvenile is currently in custody in another state and is awaiting extradition to Tennessee.

Back in March of this year, Sheriff Reece told News Channel 11 autopsy results revealed Shaw's death was a homicide, and that it was violent.

"She had blunt force trauma to the face and upper chest area," he said.  "She also had laceration to her left neck where she bled out. That's what killed her."
