Marine Corps League delivers toys to Roanoke kids

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Dozens of Roanoke city students were all smiles on Monday afternoon after a visit from someone not in a Santa suit, but a Marine Corps uniform.

The Marine Corps League delivered toys to students at Eureka Recreation Center who are enrolled in Roanoke parks and recreation after school program.

Marines have been making a difference through Toys for Tots since 1947.

"It's going for a good cause. No child should wake up Christmas morning without a present and your donations, monetary donations and toys help that child wake up and not have anybody, any gifts under the tree," said Marine Sgt. Justin Wilson.

After gifts were handed out, students had fun checking out each other's toys.

Many even made "thank you" notes to give to the Marine Corps League.
