Yankee Candle issues recall due to laceration hazard

WPRI staff – PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Yankee Candle is recalling thousands of products in its Luminous Collection.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the glass jar can crack after the candle is lit, posing a laceration hazard.

The company said it's received 16 reports of the glass cracking, but no injuries have been reported to date.

The products were sold for about $35 exclusively at Yankee Candle stores nationwide and online at YankeeCandle.com from Sept. 2016 through Nov. 2016.

The recall affects about 31,000 candles in the U.S. and about 300 were sold in Canada, according to the CPSC. The square candles contain a fragrant wax and three wicks. The item number is printed on the bottom of the glass jar.

  • Sea Salt & Coral: 1535651
  • Blackberry & Sage: 1535890
  • Apple Blossom & Melon: 1535891
  • Sugarcane & Honey: 1535892
  • Pine & Sandalwood: 1535893
  • Cinnamon & Cedar: 1535894

Consumers should stop using the candles immediately and contact Yankee Candle for a full refund.
