Dickens of a Christmas continues with Roanoke parade

ROANOKE (WSLS10)-- Thousands of people from across the Roanoke Valley are expected to pour into Downtown Roanoke for the second Dickens of a Christmas event, the parade.

This is the 34th year of the Dickens of a Christmas celebration and that tradition will continue with floats, classic cars, bands and walking groups and they make the trek through the freezing temperatures. They'll be waiving and tossing candy to the thousands of people that line up to see the holiday excitement.

Classic performers, like the Kazim Shriner Clowns, local high school bands and WSLS10, a proud sponsor of the event, will all be in the parade. We'll also see some new faces, like the Rail Yard Dawgs, who are extremely excited to perform in their first Dickens of a Christmas parade.

Santa's Workshop will be held inside of the City Market Building. There will also be carriage rides taking place throughout the night as well as a live nativity scene.

The fun all kicks off at 6 p.m. with the parade beginning at 7 p.m.
