WRIC Newsroom – HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - The Henrico Fire Department says between 12 and 15 boats were destroyed in a blaze Friday morning at Richmond Yacht Basin in southeastern Henrico near the Chesterfield border.
Henrico Fire Capt. Taylor Goodman the cause of the blaze was under investigation and that there were no injuries reported.

The person who called into the blaze to 911 was on a boat and the time and managed to escape. A boat operated by the Henrico Fire Department was also damaged.
Firefighters say that some of the boats that caught on fire actually drifted out into the water.
NBC12's Colleen Quigley says a man who's been coming to the Yacht Basin for 70 years said the blaze was highly unusual. His boat was not damaged in the fire.
Richmond Yacht Basin is just west of I-295.
