Hillsville woman arrested after police say she made a false claim about armed robbery

HILLSVILLE (WSLS 10) - Hillsville police say a women faces embezzelment and obstruction of justice charges after making claims that she had been robbed.

Police said they recieved a call around 6 p.m. Sunday about a possible armed robbery in progress at the Roadrider Market on South Main street. Police said the store clerk, 27 year old Autumn Brooke Stanley, told officers that 2 suspects had pulled a gun on her and stolen money before fleeing.

According to police, officers searched the area for the men Stanley described. Officers said no one was found and it was later determined that a robbery did not take place.

Officers arrested Stanley who now faces charges.
