ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - For those hoping to spend time with family while doing some holiday shopping, Mill Mountain Zoo is hosting a unique event for families Saturday.
Mill Mountain Zoo's Holiday Adventure Mart opens Saturday, December 3 from 10 am to 4 pm.
In addition to animals, the event features businesses showcasing their products and skills. Families will have an opportunity to warm up with hot cider, cookies and enjoy the Zoo's holiday splendor. Santa will even make an appearance at the Zoo.
In addition, Mill Mountain Zoo has reached out to several recognized public service groups within the community and asked them to join at the Zoo free of charge. Co-Director Bill Baker says Angels of Assisi will be on site again this year with animals looking for their forever home. "This is our way of showing support for these worthy organizations and returning something tangible to our community that has believed in us through the years," Baker said.
Mill Mountain Zoo is now on winter hours through March 31, and the Zoo will only be open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The grounds close at 5:00 pm.
