5 taken to hospital after Metro school bus loses control, hits 2 on-coming SUVs

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Metro police are investigating after a school bus driver lost control Wednesday evening and crashed, sending five kids to the hospital.

Authorities say that have yet to determine what caused the 59-year-old driver to lose control as travelled down McCall Street just after 4 p.m.

The bus went from the east to westbound lanes and hit a Chevrolet Blazer as well as a Chevrolet Equinox, police reported.

Twenty-six children from Wright Middle School were on board at the time. Five of them were taken to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital with minor injuries—three 13-year-olds, one 12-year-old, and one 11-year-old.

The driver of the Blazer, Saddia Brooks, 52, was transported to Southern Hills Medical Center for treatment. Her injuries were not immediately known.

According to Metro police, Brown did not exhibit indications of impairment. A blood sample from her will undergo toxicology analysis.

The investigation by the police department’s Traffic Unit is ongoing. Further details have not been released.
