3 children, 2 adults injured in multi-vehicle accident in Carroll County

CARROLL COUNTY (WSLS 10) – Five people were injured in an accident on I-77 in Carroll County.

The crash happened on Wednesday at 4:59 p.m.

Police say two adults and three children were heading northbound on I-77 when their car ran off the road and hit a guardrail.

As the car came back into the travel lane, a northbound tractor-trailer swerved to the left and braked to avoid the car, which sparked a chain reaction crash with two other tractor-trailers.

The two adults and three children were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment of serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Police say he driver of the car was a 29-year-old male from Buffalo, New York.

None of the tractor-trailer drivers was injured, and the crash remains under investigation.
