Judge orders sentence in Bedford County neglect case

BEDFORD COUNTY (WSLS 10) - The case against three people from Lynch Station moves forward.

According to the Bedford County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, Arsean and Yvette Hobbs and Shirley Mae Venable are now officially charged with felony child abuse and neglect.

The charges were ratified by a grand jury, The charges stem from an incident from June of this year, when the Bedford County Sheriff's Office investigated claims a child was being abused and was underweight.

The Bedford County Sheriff's Office said at 9:50 p.m., on June 22, 911 dispatchers received a call reporting possible child abuse along Mt. Airy Road.

After arriving on scene and investigating the complaint, deputies contacted Bedford County Social Services Child Protection investigators.
