Homeless vet laid to rest

KCWY – (KCWY/NBC News) Hundreds gathered in Evansville, Wyoming Tuesday to say goodbye to a homeless veteran many of them had never met.

The large crowd attended the funeral of Stephen Reiman at the wyoming veterans cemetery.

Reiman, a Vietnam vet and new resident of the area, died on November 17th.

Nactrona County Coroner Connie Jacobson says she had trouble locating his family and asked people in the community to attend his funeral.

Reiman's story eventually went viral, prompting many from all over to come.

Jacobson eventually located Reiman's sister, Diane, who received his flag at the service.

"I'm just so grateful for, I never, ever expected a turnout like this or all that I've been given," Reiman said.

Many of those who attended were vets themselves who say they wanted to pay their respects to Reiman with support.
