NELSON COUNTY (WSLS 10) – A former Nelson County sheriff will not spend more time in jail now that he is convicted in an unlawful filming case.

A judge suspended any jail time for David Brooks when he entered Alford pleas to misusing his position as sheriff.

As part of the plea agreement, the judge dropped the other charges, including felony embezzlement.

Prosecutors accused Brooks and former sheriff’s office staffer Rebecca Adcock, of photographing Brooks’ former campaign opponent naked in a lynchburg hotel room in 2013.

Brooks must complete community service and cannot serve in law enforcement for five years.
