Hokies return to ACC title game for first time since 2011

BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10 SPORTS) - Virginia Tech returns to the ACC title game for the first time since 2011 when the Hokies fell to Clemson 38-10. This is the first opportunity for these players to compete for a championship and they're looking forward to their shot against the Tigers.

"Yeah it means a lot I told some other people what the seniors have gone through, starting and just not having the years we wanted to early on then getting back to this point obviously there's a lot of sense of accomplishment in that. At the end of the day this is what we expected coming in so we don't want to just go participate in this game. We want to go and win and that's the goal," said Hokies fullback Sam Rogers.

Wide receiver Isaiah Ford agreed, "we were supposed to win, if that makes sense. We didn't come to Virginia tech to just beat UVA we came to play for ACC championships and stuff like that. So as far as that aspect yeah we wanted to win that game, but now it's time to prepare for a championship."

Clemson's quarterback Deshaun Watson has thrown for more than 36,000 yards and 34 touchdowns, but also is good on the run. The Hokies defense has had difficulty with dual threat quarterbacks.

"You know, I think we have been able to get after the quarterback in certain instances over the season as much as you can get back there it's a benefit for the team so I think our biggest challenge comes this weekend, that's easy to see," said Hokies defensive tackle Woody Baron.

Hokies defensive end Ken Ekanem added, "I hope to introduce myself to him pretty early, throw him off his game a little bit show pressure and get to him on quick and get him out of his element. Hopefully we get to him earlier but he's a great player. One of the best QB's we'll play."

Kickoff is Saturday at 8pm at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
