Crews contain fire on Smith Mountain

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY (WSLS 10) A brush fire in Pittsylvania County is now 100% contained. Officials said the fire happened on the Gretna side of Smith Mountain.

Crews from the Cool Branch Fire Company said about 25 acres were burned and it took 35 firefighters to put out the flame. The Department of Forestry is helping with hot spots.

Crews said they got a call about the fire just before 5 p.m Sunday. Officials said the fire was under control by 8 p.m.. No word on what caused the blaze.
