Appomattox County High School student killed in car crash

APPOMATTOX (WSLS 10) - Virginia State Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash in Appomattox County. The crash occurred at 3:46 a.m., Saturday on Trent Hatchery Road,

According to police, a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant was traveling along Trent Hatchery Road when it ran off the left side of the road, the vehicle first struck a ditch and then struck a tree head-on. The driver, Joshua W. Judy, 17, of Appomattox, Va., was not wearing a seat belt. Police said he died at the scene.

According to the Appomattox County High School football twitter account, Judy was a senior at the school. The tweet read "We are saddened to hear of one of our seniors passing away in an auto accident last night. Thoughts and prayers go out to family, friends and community."

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
