Dylann Roof declared competent to stand trial

WSPA Staff – CHARLESTON, S.C. – A judge has declared Dylann Roof, the white man charged with killing nine black parishioners at a Charleston church, competent to stand trial.

The ruling was released Friday morning by U.S. District Judge Richard Gergel in Charleston.

Jury selection is scheduled to begin Monday, November 28 at 9 a.m.

Roof's federal trial is set for November. He also faces the death penalty in state court where he is charged with murder in a trial set to begin early next year.
