Southside ministers provide Thanksgiving meals, fellowship for hundreds

HALIFAX COUNTY (WSLS 10) - A group of ministers in Southside is helping make sure everyone has a chance to celebrate Thanksgiving this year.

The Halifax County Minister's Alliance held its annual Thanksgiving community meal today at Halifax County Christian School.

Multiple denominations helped prepare and serve the food.

The meal included the usual Thanksgiving items, like turkey and mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans.

Organizers said the goal is to have people leave with more than just a full stomach though.

"It's not just for poor folks, but anybody who needs fellowship today. They can come together," said Rev. Frank Carr.

"Creating an environment where people can come that maybe don't have family in the area and are able to spend that time with others," said Pastor T. Wayne Daniels.

Around 450 people were expected to be served.
