Virginia State Police team up with church to help kids for Christmas

SALEM (WSLS 10) - Virginia State Police and members of a local church worked together on Monday to help kids all over the world this Christmas.

Troopers packed and loaded shoe boxes with volunteers and staff at Salem Baptist Church.

These boxes will go overseas as a part of Operation Christmas Child. They are filled with toys and hygiene items for kids in poverty-stricken areas of the world.

The goal is to send 12 million boxes out this year, with 13,200 of them coming from the Roanoke and Alleghany areas.
