Farooqui waives right to preliminary hearing

ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - The man accused of stabbing two people at a Roanoke County apartment complex has waved his right to a preliminary hearing.

Wasil Farooqui went before a judge this morning.

He is charged with two counts of aggravated malicious wounding.

Witnesses told police that he shouted "allah akbar" during the attack.

The FBI had previously looked into Farooqui's travel history, including an attempt to go to Syria to join ISIS.

They do not believe this case was terrorism.

Instead, they believe he is mentally disturbed.

The 20-year-old's case has been moved to circuit court.
