Confederate flag support group pulls request to hold parade on MLK Day in Lexington

LEXINGTON (WSLS 10) - A Confederate flag support group has pulled its request to hold a parade in Lexington on Martin Luther King Day.

Virginia Flaggers asked the city for a permit on January 16 with the intention to swap days with the group CARE Rockbridge, who's holding a parade on the January 14, the day after Lee-Jackson day when Virginia Flaggers typically holds its annual event.

However, CARE refused to switch dates and Virginia Flaggers now plan to have a ceremony at the downtown cemetery on January 14.
