(WSLS 10) – The Virginia Western Community College Educational Foundation holds an information session about the Community College Access Program tonight. The program makes tuition free for students with a certain grade point average who meet financial requirements. Tonight’s meeting takes place at William Fleming High School starting at 6 p.m.
Roanoke TRIAD holds a meeting today to talk about holiday safety. TRIAD is a partnership between law enforcement, seniors and service providers who work together to reduce crime against the elderly.
Restaurant chain Country Cookin’ will honor veterans and active duty military today. All military personnel can get a free meal today from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Vinton Town Council will talk about the second phase of the Glade Creek Greenway tonight. This phase of the project will cost about $526,000 dollars. More than $400,000 comes from a grant from the state. The 3,060 foot paved path will extend from Walnut Avenue to Gus Nicks Boulevard.
The Franklin County Board of Supervisors could sign off on contracts to begin construction at the Southway Business Park. Initial work would consist of designing the main access road, grading and building storm water facilities as well as work to provide public utilities.
The Salem V-A Medical Center holds a town hall and listening session today. Members of the leadership team and the Veterans Benefits Administration will be there to give updates and answer questions.
