Virginia Tech to get turkeys from the White House

BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - The Hokie bird will soon have a couple of new companions at Virginia Tech, all the way from the White House.

Both the National Thanksgiving Turkey and its alternate are coming to live out their days at a newly built facility called Gobblers Rest inside Virginia Tech's Livestock Judging Pavilion.

President Obama will pardon both turkeys during a ceremony next week. This will be the first time any of the pardoned birds will live at a university.

The public will be able to visit the turkeys November 25 and 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Livestock Judging Pavilion.
