One driver charged after 22-year-old dies in four-vehicle I-81 crash

CHRISTIANSBURG (WSLS 10) - One person is dead after a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 in Montgomery County on Saturday morning.

State police say the crash happened at 8:55 a.m. in the northbound lanes  at the 128.1 mile marker, just north of Route 603.

A 2014 Jeep Compass stopped in the roadway, causing a 2007 Toyota Scion and a 2005 Toyota Avalon to stop and a  2006 Toyota Tundra, which was also traveling north, struck the 2005 Toyota Avalon, causing it to strike the other vehicles, according to state police.

The Jeep was driven by Lois M. Williams-Brown, 69, of Ocala, Fla. She was wearing her seat belt and was transported for injuries received in the crash.

The Scion was driven by Danny W. Todd, 20, of Laurel Springs, N.C.  He was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.

The Avalon was driven by Megan D. Sheesley, 18, of Amissville, VA.  She was wearing her seat belt and was transported for injuries received in the crash.  The passengers in her vehicle were Dianna L. Sheesley, 55, and Milton M. Sheesley, 22, of Amissville, VA.  Dianna Sheesley was wearing her seat belt and was also transported for injuries received in the crash.

Milton Sheesley was wearing his seat belt and died at the scene.

The Tundra was driven by Andrew W. Velo, 48, of Galena, Ill.  He was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.

Williams-Brown was charged with reckless driving for stopping in the roadway.

The crash remains under investigation.
