NBC News – (NBC News) Your Thanksgiving Day menu may be set, but how do you answer the question: To shop or not?

Target has become the latest large retailer announcing they'll be open for business at least part of Thanksgiving's Day, joining Kohl's, Sears, Macy's and even Best Buy.

They say it's for the millions of consumers who want to get a jump on Christmas bargains, but understand it's not for everyone.

It's not for every retailer either.

Some 40 other other retailers with equally big names, including Nordstrom, Costco, Crate & Barrel, HH Gregg, Hobby Lobby and R.E.I. will all be closed Thanksgiving, figuring that's what most customers want.

Retail experts are still expecting a sizeable increase in Christmas shopping this year, with or without shopping Thanksgiving Day.
