(WSLS 10) - The YWCA of Central Virginia's Design House opens today. Local designers and vendors have made over rooms within a home, and now you can see their work. Admission starts at $20. Tours are available Thursday through Sunday through December 4th. Proceeds benefit the YWCA.

The Kendall Bayne Foundation holds a "Fall Fashionable Fundraiser" today. The event includes a fashion show as well as a silent and live auction. Proceeds benefit the foundation as it establishes a college scholarship, with the first one expected to be awarded next year. Tickets are $50. The event begins at 11 a.m. at the Roanoke Country Club.

A ceremony for veterans takes place today in Appomattox County. Former Congressman Virgil Goode will deliver the keynote address. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Wall of Honor in the Appomattox Courthouse Square.

IHOP honors veterans today with a free meal. Veterans and active duty military can enjoy three hot-off-the-griddle pancakes. The offer is available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Virginia Tech dedicates Steger Hall today. Charles Steger was on the longest serving leaders of the university, holding the office of president from 2000 to 2014. Under his tenure, sponsored research at the school increased from $193 million to $513 million. The facility is home to the Biocomplexity Institute.

Comedian and recording artist Larry the Cable Guy will speak today at Liberty University's Convocation. His Git-R-Done Foundation honors and supports military veterans. Convocation begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Vines Center.

Middle BOarder Forward and the Keystone Club of the Boys and Girls Club in Danville will hold a forum tonight beginning at 5:30 p.m. on race and race relations. Topics covered include education, public safety and economics.

The Virginia Department of Historic Resources dedicates a historical marker today. It will honor Lucille Chaffin Kent, a Lynchburg native, who was a pioneer in Virginia's aviation history. She was one of the first women in the Commonwealth to earn an instructor's rating in aeronautics. In 1939, she started teaching meteorology, navigation and civil air regulations at E. C. Glass High School.

A community walk to end violence in Danville takes place tonight. Danville Regional Medical Center's CEO Alan Larson started the walks after a doctor was shot in February while walking home from the hospital. The goal of the walks is to bring people together to talk about ways to end gun violence in the River City. Tonight's walk begins at 6 p.m. at Mosley Memorial United Methodist Church.

The National D-Day Memorial in Bedford holds ceremony this morning at 11 a.m. for Veterans Day. Author Minter Dial II will be the guest speaker. He is on a global tour promoting his book and documentary, "The Last Ring Home." It tells the story of his grandfather's experience as a POW during World War Two.

Lynchburg Christian Academy remembers veterans today. The school community will gather to thank veterans in from within the school community.

Radford University will celebrate Veterans Day with a ceremony today at 1 p.m. University President Brian Hemphill, Delegate Joseph Yost and former Army officer and Radford graduate Ed Zimmerman will speak. A wreath laying ceremony will follow.

Students at Green Valley Elementary School in Roanoke County will honor Veterans Day. This is the 24th year the school has held a Veterans Day program. All students in the school take part in the program with the students performing several musical tributes and waving flags.

Texas Roadhouse offers a free lunch to veterans today. Ten entrees, including a six ounce sirloin are available. You must show proof of service. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
