Clinton supporters in Northern Virginia react to Trump win

WASHINGTON (WSLS 10) - Many Hillary Clinton supporters were in shock after Donald Trump's victory. Democrats in Northern Virginia helped Clinton win the commonwealth, but that wasn't enough to win the White House.

"I think it was shocking" said Keena Turner, Trump supporter.

One day after Tuesday's elections, voters reacted to news Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton.

"I knew Trump was going to win, said Landre Hunter. "I had a feeling paying attention to the climate".

Now that the Republican is set to take office in January, voters are waiting to hear exactly where the president-elect stands on key issues like job creation, immigration and unity.

"It's going to be hard because of his stance on immigration," said Hunter. "I'm not sure how he can unify the country when he starts deporting people. I'm not sure how it's going to go."

During her concession speech, Hillary Clinton encouraged her supporters to have an open-mind about President-elect Trump.

"Reassure people {that} what his intentions are. I think a lot of people have misunderstood him" said Turner.

With the election over, people said now is the time for political parties to come together and move the country forward.

President-elect Donald trump and President Barack Obama are expected on Thursday to discuss the transition process.
