By Paul Hess, WVVA Internet Director – CHARLESTON, WV (WVVA) The race for Governor of West Virginia is now over.

The Associated Press had declared Jim Justice as the winner. The billionaire coal operator and owner of the Greenbrier Resort cites his experience as a businessman as the reason why voters need him in the governor's mansion.

Justice has said on many occasions that he is not a "career politician."  Justice launched his campaign in early 2015; switching his party affiliation from Republican to Democrat. He has previously promised to take a $1 salary as West Virginia Governor.

Voting went smoothly across the state with an exception in Greenbrier County. There a computer problem caused a delay in counting. County Clerk Paula Dunford said the machine that tallied votes "bit the dust." Another computer had to be brought in to resume counting.
