Frank's at Brambleton and its customers make a difference for National Guard unit

ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - A Roanoke County restaurant and its customers make a difference for a local national guardsman and his unit.

On Monday, Frank's at Brambleton collected donations for care packages to send to Roanoke-native Jared Varney's battalion stationed in Iraq.

Each member will receive his own package.

Varney's wife and mother said it's a way for the community to show the troops they care.

"They are in an undisclosed location and they are not able to get as many of the amenities that many bases have, so they were allowed to get these boxes," explained Katie Varney, Jared's mother.

Katie said they received enough supplies to send packages to another local man's unit stationed in Guatemala.

All the donations will be boxed and shipped in time for the holidays.
