UPDATE: Police to charge student who brought unloaded handgun Heritage High School

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - Lynchburg police said it will charge the student it says brought a weapon to Heritage High School on Friday.

Police say the investigation began on Friday, at about 9:30 a.m., after reports that a student was in possession of a handgun on school property.

Police say when the handgun was located, it was not being displayed, brandished, or otherwise used in a manner that was threatening to others and it was not brought openly to school.

The handgun was not loaded at the time it was found by police.

Police say, it appears this is an isolated incident and there is not present danger to faculty or students.
