Roanoke police find alleged hit-and-run driver involved in fatal Hershberger Road crash

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Roanoke investigators have identified the vehicle and driver involved in Wednesday night's fatal hit-and-run crash on Hershberger Road.

Investigators have talked with the elderly woman and are continuing to collect and analyze physical evidence from the scene and from the car involved.

Police will discuss with the commonwealth's attorney's office on the placing of any appropriate charges following the conclusion of the investigation.

Police say Joshua Elvin Combs, a 34-year-old Roanoke man, died on Wednesday night because of the crash.

A witness said he was driving his moped on Hershberger Road and was hit by a car, according to police.
