MARTINSVILLE (WSLS 10 ) - Search warrants for the man accused of driving into a crowd of people outside Martinsville Speedway on Sunday reveal more about the moments before the crash.
According to the arrest warrant, Gary Edem told state police his foot slipped and hit the gas.
The warrant also shows a witness reported hearing Edem say an expletive right before hitting the people.
When the car finally stopped, a witness took the keys out of the car and detained Edem until police arrived.
The warrant does not specify how the witness detained Edem.
As of Thursday, Edem was charged with reckless driving.
The investigation is ongoing.
