18-year-old Amherst County woman charged with first-degree murder

AMHERST COUNTY (WSLS 10) - The Amherst County Sheriff's Office charged an 18-year-old woman with first-degree murder in connection to an October death.

Shortly before 11 a.m. on Thursday, Kaitlyn Webber, of Madison Heights, was taken into custody without incident at the Amherst County Courthouse where she was there on an unrelated criminal case.

On October 25, 41-year-old Troy Roberson was found dead between 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. in a parking lot on Maple Drive in Madison Heights.

Deputies say that he was shot.

During a news conference on Thursday, Sheriff E.W. Viar Jr. said that Webber and Roberson knew each other before his death.

Webber was transported to the Amherst Adult Detention Center, where she is being held without bond.

The sheriff's office says this is an ongoing investigation and investigators are tirelessly pursuing all leads.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the sheriff's office or Central Virginia Crimestoppers at 1-888-798-5900.
