(WSLS 10) - Virginia Tech undergraduate students will pitch their ideas today in the ACC InVenture Prize. The finalists will have three minutes to pitch their business ideas and inventions. The winners will compete against others students from ACC schools in a Shark Tank style competition for up to $30,000.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission holds a public session today in Franklin County about the Mountain Valley Pipeline. The government agency issued its Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the project in September. The meeting begins at 5 p.m. at Franklin County High School. Another meeting takes place in Roanoke on Thursday.

Virginia Western Community College continues its effort to help students impacted by the closure of ITT Technical Institute. Today the college holds a job fair. More than 20 employers in several fields including healthcare, technology and finance will be present from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Lynchburg City Schools continues its listening tour today. School leaders will be available to talk about the school calendar for the 2017-2018 school year. The event starts at 7 p.m. at Sandusky Middle School.

Former Secretary of State and White House and White House Chief of Staff James Baker will receive a service award and deliver the keynote address today at Virginia Military Institute. He will speak at the Leadership and Ethics Conference. Baker served during the Reagan and George H.W. Bush administrations.

Students at Franklin County High School will cast their votes today in a mock election. They will decide who should be the next President of the United States. The process mirrors a real election, where students had to register before casting their ballots.

The International Refugee Assistance Project will hold a forum today on refugee issues at Virginia Tech. Panelists will talk about the screening process, legal issues and national security.

The National D-Day Memorial in Bedford holds a groundbreaking ceremony today for a new Quonset hut. The structure was used for housing and storage by troops during World War II. The new Q-hut will replace the temporary trailer that houses the Gift Store and offices.
