UPDATE: Woman arrested for falsely reporting Williamson Road robbery


ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) – Roanoke County police have arrested a woman they say falsely filed a police reported and stole money from her employer on Wednesday morning.

Roanoke County police responded just before 7 a.m. to the reported robbery in the 6400 block of Williamson Road.

Originally, 41-year-old Heather Hartberger, of Vinton, reported that she arrived at work, entered the business and an armed man entered the same door shortly thereafter, according to police.

Furthermore, the said that the man stole money from the cash register and left.

However, after further investigation, Hartberger confessed to stealing the money herself and making up the story about the robbery.

She faces charges of grand larceny and filing a false police report and is being held at the Roanoke County/Salem jail.
