Henry County Public Safety Department raising awareness about men's health

HENRY COUNTY (WSLS 10) - For the second year, the Henry County Department of Public Safety is partnering with the Movember Foundation.

This department will be raising money to fight prostate and testicular cancer, as well as mental health issues.

The department created a page on the Movember website for people to join the department's team and help the department raise money.

Men are asked to grow mustaches for the month and women are asked to exercise each day this month and track their progress on the page.

"Men don't talk about it. We don't discuss it. Our strength is our silence and that needs to be changed," said Hamp Ingram, the department's team captain. "We need to get out. We need to talk about it and raise awareness."

Ingram said the awareness campaign is personal to him, as he lost his son to suicide last year and has a friend and a neighbor who are currently battling cancer.
