Bobcat Backpacks Program gets help from local business

CHRISTIANSBURG (WSLS 10) – A local business stepped up to help feed hungry children in the New River Valley.

Invision Eye Care clinic in Christiansburg presented the Bobcat Backpacks Program with a $2,500 check Wednesday morning.

The backpack program provides weekend meals for about 100 students in the Radford school system. This donation will support those kids for more than two months.

The money came from a grant program through ABB Optical Group. There were around 100 applicants from across the country, and only seven winners.

The Bobcat Backpacks Program launched in January 2016 and runs strictly on donations and grants.
